First Reconciliation and First Communion
Children usually receive First Reconciliation in second grade. The St. John XXIII School and St. John XXIII Religious Education children are both part of this program. We have a First Reconciliation Retreat in late fall and the children receive First Reconciliation in January.
First Reconciliation is a beautiful sacrament, it is also known as Confession or Penance. It is about so much more than confessing our sins, it is about forgiveness, and making things right with God and with our family and friends.
We will help your child understand the sacrament, and help them understand the difference between mistakes and sins.
Children usually receive First Communion in second grade. The St. John XXIII Religious Education and the St. John XXIII children are both part of this program.
We have two meetings in addition to classroom work. The meetings should be attended by the child and at least one parent.
Jesus gave us a very special gift in the Eucharist, himself. We will explore what this means with your child and with you.
This year we are using a new program for the preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion . It is called Blessed, the books are beautifully illustrated and have an engaging video component. I believe this program will engage both you and our child and will be an effective tool in the preparation for the beautiful sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion.
The Sacraments for an older child can be arranged by calling Denise at 262-284-2102.
